On the Never ending circus of protest on Dibang Dam

Prelude: I have posted some comments on Veracity blog and have replied to the comments passed on my comments there regarding the never ending circus of protest against Dibang.
Intro:
Everyone know Dibang Project- and there is no need of any introduction on the subject, and i am also not the right person to do so. There are some section, should i say more than half of the people of Dibang & Lower Dibang Valley against the project-so they protest, which turns out to be a never ending circus of protest. The dam proponents are not giving in-nor the protestors giving up-nor the govt comes to a decision.

What is the next step? It seems the three parties mentioned above are not going to soften their stand-a lot is at stake. More so for the protestors must i say-because if the dam comes up they lose their status they will feel defeated, and most of all the environment, their oft-repeated apprehension of the dam will come true-dam break, displacement of the tribal indigenous people, influx of people from outside outnumbering the local population, which will further subject them to a minority in politics, reservior induced earthquake will further augment the already sensitive earthquake zone (zone V) and last but not the least the loss of culture and tradition of the indigenous people.

For the Dam proponent it will be a lost opportunity to build the highest dam in the country-with it all the benefits rather profits from the revenue expected to be generated from it.

There are instances that states that the present status of the project is due to the lack/absence of good public relation from the part of the dam proponent. But the moot question is that-in case the PR of the dam proponent happens to be good, does it nullify the apprehensions as championed by the protesters. Be it good or bad PR, the project/dam once completed will be the same with its positive & negative aspects! What will be submerged will be submerged will be submerged, what will be lost will be lost (Cultural & Political majority, if i may), population influx will be as it will be whether PR is +ve or -ve!

So shall we let the govt decides-we blame itbut at the same time we expect from it. May be we are confused with the term govt. Let's say the politicians in power rather than the govt. Let Mr. Mithi speak and all will be fine! do we hear. Let the MLA visit the affected villages of his constituency-and give them an assurance! Who are we expecting? As far as i am concern the state govt. has already decided-why should they sign the MoA with the dam proponent! And the central has followed suit-inaugurating the foundation stone at Itanagar! Was it just a joke or a ceremonial signing of the memorundam & laying of foundation stone-but at this high level i think not.

So what have we at hand. Difficult to gauge. The protesters are not going to down their swords. The dam proponent untill & unless the govt-central/state gives them in writing will not withdraw.

Epilogue:

Unless something extremely untoward happens the govt will not roll back the project, it will do it any way. There are a lot of talks going around that the protesters are doing it just because it is an opportunity to have a good time-meaning a lot of funding for it, and a chance to visit foreign countries etc. The dam proponents will also do what it has to do, may be resort to unethical/unlawful ways if necessary- who said there is no corruption anyway. You need to pay to get a project, you want money to sanction a project, and you also have to pay to complete the sanctioned project! at every steps if i may. So if there is any allegation on corruption on the part of the dam proponents think again, you may be accusing your very own! What about taking money to raise a question in the parliament!!

So let the govt decides...oops the politicians-thats better!

On the 17 crore heist!

Shame! how dare he? what does he think of the people of Anini and the police personnel!? what does he think of himself? this are the thoughts that came to my mind when i heard the news about the robbery. But now i can only say he is a fool! what more can you say

About the very act, how could he ever think that he could get away with it? that's beyond imagination! May be by mistake he mistaken himself as some superior being-supernatural. may be he is enjoying the power vested in him so much that for a fleeting second he forgot that he is there to protect the cash. I heard someone say that seeing that much of money, he became mad! could be. But he should have planned in a better way. he did'nt because he is a fool!

So the people of Anini do not need such fools, mad people filling their pocket meant for the people. Dibang valley does'nt need any administrator, if Anini is considered punishment posting! Anini have enough criminals/theives of its own to deal with.

The people of Anini has their customary laws to govern themselves. if the government does'nt change its ways we will govern ourself-which we know how to do. So if you the government can change- do change and let's work together. you talk of development, if development is in this format we have had enough! This is the time to change-the people have changed, we are wishing the government changes its attitude towards the people.

Let's wait and see what changes the government brings?!!
